About Kumar Reddy’s Biography

On November 25, 2010, Reddy was sworn in as Andhra Pradesh’s 16th Chief Minister. He was the head of the Indian National Congress Party before quitting in February 2014 owing to the creation of Telangana State. He was a four-time member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly.  Simultaneously, Reddy presented his resignation to Prime Minister Governor E. S. L. Narasimhan, who accepted it but urged Reddy to continue as temporary chief minister. On March 1, 2014, the state was placed under the president’s control. In response to the Centre’s decision to partition the state of Andhra Pradesh, Reddy decided to start a new party called Jai Samaikyandhra Party on March 11, 2014.
